Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated June 1, 2026
Draft - subject to revisionThis Acceptable Use Policy sets the rules for behavior and content on Circles. It applies to everyone (guardians, students, hosts, and schools) and supplements our Terms of Service. Because Circles is used by children, we enforce these rules strictly.
1. Our principles
Circles is a place to learn, teach, and connect safely. The rules below exist to keep it that way, with particular care for the minors who use it.
We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend accounts that violate this policy, and we report unlawful content to the appropriate authorities where required by law.
2. Prohibited content
The following are never allowed anywhere on Circles: in classes, community posts, chat, profiles, uploaded materials, or marketplace listings:
- Any sexual content involving minors, or any content that sexualizes a minor. This is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) as required by law.
- Content that grooms, solicits, or endangers a child.
- Harassment, bullying, threats, or hate speech targeting any person or group.
- Sexually explicit material, graphic violence, or content promoting self-harm.
- Illegal content, or content promoting illegal activity, weapons, or drugs.
- Misinformation presented as fact in a way that could harm a learner.
3. Prohibited conduct
Regardless of the content itself, you may not:
- Impersonate another person, or misrepresent your identity, age, or credentials.
- Contact a minor you do not have a legitimate, approved relationship with on the platform.
- Circumvent or interfere with safety systems, moderation, or age/guardian controls.
- Scrape, harvest, or bulk-export other users' data.
- Send unsolicited commercial or spam messages in circles, DMs, or community.
- Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems you are not authorized to use.
- Record a class without the consent of participants (and a guardian's consent for any minor).
4. Extra responsibilities for hosts
Hosts hold a position of trust with families. In addition to everything above, hosts must teach within their stated subject and credentials, keep interactions with minors appropriate and within platform channels, and honor the safety controls applied to student accounts.
5. Reporting & enforcement
Every post, profile, message, and listing can be reported with the Report control. We review reports and take action ranging from content removal to permanent account suspension.
We cooperate with law enforcement and file reports with NCMEC where we become aware of apparent child sexual abuse material, as required by U.S. law.
6. Contact us
To report a safety concern or ask about this policy, contact hello@circles.app. For urgent child-safety emergencies, contact local law enforcement.
